| Housing Adviser - The Housing Needs & Resources Team of a busy Local Authority based in North London requires a Housing Adviser to work alongside Housing Officers, Housing Assessment Officer, Benefit Assessment Officers and Resident Liaison Officers. The role is to provide a housing advice service including face-to-face, telephone, written and electronic communications, ensuring a quality, customer focused service is delivered to fulfill the council's statutory duties under current homelessness legislation. JOB DESCRIPTION *Providing advice and assistance to customers and their representatives on avoiding homelessness, or obtaining somewhere to live and to provide help, give practical assistance and take action on behalf of customers when required. *To advise and assist customers on Homelessness, Security of tenure, Money advice, Housing and welfare benefits, Harassment, Eviction and Relationship breakdown. *To assess homeless applications and make appropriate decisions according to legislation. *To take a casework approach to a customer's enquiries, ensuring that all factors are taken into account when assessing a response. *To maintain a stock of relevant information on housing options including security of tenure, public and private sector tenancies, benefits, home ownership and moving home. *One years experience of housing advice casework and extensive knowledge of current housing legislation and knowledge of housing advice is essential. *The working week will be 36 hours but will include up to three and a half hours worked during evenings or weekends.
