| Senior Transportation Engineer Principle Duties and Main Activities Our client is looking for a natural born leader to head up a team of Transportation Engineers. The successful candidate will have a high standard of accuracy in carrying out numerical calculations and report preparation and design skills. You will have excellent communication skills to include client care, financial project skills and project management skills. *You will be an active team member yet posses leadership skills. *Having a development planning background skills in negotiation, planning knowledge, planning legislation and Government planning policy. *To attend public inquiries, local hearing and dealing with written representations. *Being responsible for the work that has been delegated to you to expedite. *Organising and supervising other people. *Understanding technical drawings, both civil engineering and architectural layouts and diagrams. * Understanding how complex transportation related projects are carried out. *You will enjoy problem solving by seeking new ideas and solutions to complex issues. *A keen interest in 2-D design. *Drawing sketches accurately. *A very good understanding of both the written and spoken word in order to communicate well. *Skilled with using computer software including transportation software such as TRANSYT, ARCADY, PICADY, TRIGS. *Understanding the Health & Safety aspects of working in the Construction Industry with its special risks. *You will enjoy working outdoors, site visits under supervision until authorized to undertake lone visits, after suitable training. *Working mainly in the office. *Preparing outline road junction designs including T' and 'X' road junctions plus roundabouts and signalized junctions. *Preparing traffic figures and diagrams for inclusion in technical reports. *Preparing Transportation reports. *Explaining ideas and information to colleagues and clients and project team members. *Mentoring junior staff. *Leading by example acting responsibly and working in a safe manner. *Keeping up to date on best practice, including reviewing Government circulars. *Representing the company at public exhibitions or on training courses to portray the client as a company that employs professional individuals that seek to achieve high levels of competency. *Undertake research via the internet and undertaking sustainability audits and preparing access statements. Qualifications & Experience Required *Educated to degree standard. *Knowledge of Codes of Practice and Design Standards. *Awareness of Health & Safety legislation relating to civil engineering. *Good numerical and communication skills. Background The transportation field has many facets over a broad range including....... Road traffic Rail Marinas by Sea by Air Multi-modal including walking, cycling and public transport. Our client provide' transportation skills to local government and the private sector majoring in assessing the traffic impact of development on brown-field (previously developed land) and Greenfield sites. Development projects you would be involved in.............. New housing development from a few in number up to 3,000 plus. We currently are involved in master planning work, infrastructure (highway and drainage design) for 1100 houses in Aylesham in Kent. New marinas, they are currently assessing the benefits of a new marina on the River Thames. Non food retail, this includes B&Q type of developments. Green Travel Plans, to prepare reports based upon researching staff journey to work questionnaires. This entails dealing with employment, educational, leisure companies. Public and Local Inquiries, some developments are unfortunately refused planning consent and are therefore employed to prepare appeal statements to rebut Local authority objections to the scheme. Our client has the professional skills to present transportation evidence. New roads are generally adopted by highway authorities and we prepare outline junction and road designs for planning consent before the design is detailed up for ultimate construction on site. Knowledge of legislation such as the Highways Act 1980 and design manuals such as the Design Manual for Road & Bridges (DMRB) enables MLM to support clients and architects designs. APPLY NOW...
