| Senior Quantity Surveyor/ Quantity Surveyor - London Underground project
My client is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor to join one of the largest energy companies in the UK. They employ over 11,000 people supplying gas and electricity to over five million customer accounts. Based in the heart of London they are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on upgrading, replacing and maintaining London Undergrounds infrastructure for the next 30 years.

Remuneration:
Around £45,000 - £47,000 per annum

The Client:
My client is one of the largest energy companies in the UK. They employ over 11,000 people, supply gas and electricity to over five million customer accounts, and are a major generator.
As one of the largest regulated and private networks operators in the UK they distribute electricity to over a quarter of the country's population.
Based in the heart of London they are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding team to work on upgrading, replacing and maintaining two-thirds of the London Undergrounds infrastructure for the next 30 years - Its trains, stations, signalling, track, tunnels and bridges of some 150 stations. My client is responsible for all the electrification of the whole contract.
Scope of Work
" Four Contracts over 7½ year period
" Stations and Civils for Metronet Rail
" Total value in excess of £1.9 billion
" Annual turnover circa £250 million
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance and standards to Project QS's, mentoring, training and developing the team
- Contribute to commercial and contract discussions with client
- Develop and implement project processes and procedures associated with the QS function
- Establish and agree new contract rates with client as required
- Prepare valuations, forecasts and estimates as required
- Contract support to Procurement for tendering, tender assessment and subsequent contract and cost management of sub contractors
- Final accounts and claims negotiation and settlement
- Monthly reporting
Background needed:
+ Rail experience in Quantity Surveying (Ideally 7 years plus)
+ HND minimum in relevant subject i.e. Quantity Surveying
+ Sound experience of project cost accounting and reporting methods within a construction environment
+ Risk and claims negotiation and settlement
+ Experienced in tendering processes within construction and/or building services industry or similar.
+ Sub contractor management

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will have the opportunity of working in a challenging environment, working on a variety of contracts on a project which is the most important part of London's infrastructure in the next 20 years.
