| Council Tax Officer - The Corporate Services department of a busy Local Authority based in South London requires a Council Tax Officer to support the Revenue Recovery Team alongside Housing Officers, Housing Advisors, Housing Assessors and Resident Liaison Officers to assist the Revenues and Benefits department to provide Council Tax collection, billing and recovery service capable of achieving an award for excellence, such as the Charter Mark. Job Description *To manage a number of client accounts in the administration of Council Tax from billing to recovery. *To establish liability for Council Tax in accordance with the legislation and taking into account relevant case law. *Ability to determine and validate applications for discounts, exemptions and disabled relief within prescribed timescales. *Dealing with customer correspondence within prescribed timescales ensuring enquiries are dealt with in an efficient, accurate and professional manner. *Ability to deal with customer enquires regarding recovery such as making and agreeing payment arrangements, attachment of earnings and benefits and cases with the bailiffs. *To prepare case documents for referral to Magistrates Court for non payment of Council Tax in order to obtain Liability Orders. *Undertake report-based work such as checking reminder and final notice pre-lists, summons pre-lists, broken sumar reports and pre-bailiff lists. *To input data on IBSOpen Revenues, Business Rates and bailiff computer systems in an accurate and timely basis. Also using ICL CTAX mainframe services.
