Job Description:
Design Coordinator
Site Based


The relevant candidate will assist the design manager by managing the production of design information during the tender and construction phases. Produce, agree, implement and monitor the project specific design management plan to ensure that design information is produced in a timely, accurate and coordinated way. You will also advise the project team on design issues and ensure that the design complies with statutory regulations and the requirements of the contract, without exceeding their obligations.

Key Tasks
*Produce, agree, implement and monitor a projects specific design Management Plan, and Information Required Schedule
*Maintain close relationships with the consultants, client team and design subcontractors
*Organise, attend, chair and minute design team meetings
*Ensure that sub-contractor and consultants designs are coordinated
*Ensure that design information issues are accurately distributed and recorded
*Ensure that each designer's scope of design responsibility is clear and unambiguous
*Ensure that design information is issued to the client team for comment in accordance with an agreed programme and monitor, action and close out any comments
*Ensure that designers work to the Contract requirements and in accordance with their appointments
*Ensure that all designers comply with their obligations under the Construction (design and management) regulations and maintain a close relationship with the project CDM Coordinator
*Ensure that all Requests for Information are made in accordance with the agreed procedures and all answers are recorded and monitored.
*Assist the project team in the administration of the Change Control Procedure and ensure that design implications of any changes are properly assessed
*Compile and present monthly Design Progress Reports
*Continually review the design in conjunction with the site team to ensure it's buildable, within budget, fully co-ordinated and compliant with the requirements of the Contract
*Provide guidance on design issues to the project team
*Contribute to the preparation of enquiries for subcontract packages and assist with the evaluation of responses
*Ensure that risk and value engineering techniques are applied where possible to maximise efficiency and returns.
*Procure information on operation and maintenance issues for inclusion in the Health and Safety File
