| An opportunity has arisen for a Senior CAD Technician to work with our Highways & Transport teams based in their Birmingham office. This is within our Transport Solutions sector as part of our Highways and Transportation business. Transport Solutions is an integral part of the business which, within Highways and Transportation, embraces all aspects of Highways and Bridges design, development and application of Intelligent Transport systems, and Strategic Asset Management. Reporting to Highways Engineer will give you the opportunity to hone and develop your CAD skills whilst playing a key role in supporting the delivery of projects for various internal and external customers. The role will primarily involve the preparation of detailed two dimensional drawings using AutoCAD, but will also include site visits and general technical support on projects for several teams. Qualifications: HNC (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering, although this would not necessarily preclude anyone with the appropriate draughting experience in a Civil / Structural working environment. Working towards an appropriate Associate Membership of an Engineering Institution would be an advantage. Experience: Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2004 or a later version Sufficient and appropriate experience within a technical working environment Able to independently produce engineering drawings to a high draughting standard Ability to work from Engineers calculations and designs as appropriate in producing full working drawings, including GA and RC details and schedules, with minimum of supervision Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specification Experience and knowledge of appropriate design standards, and a keen interest in developing in this area Ability to produce appropriate calculations, when necessary, in producing the working drawings and details Experience of carrying out site inspections/surveys and working on the Highways Agency network A practical knowledge of Health & Safety issues including risk assessments and the CDM Regulations Computer literacy e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook Working with QSE procedures Responsibilities Production of CAD drawings to high standards Coordination with other CAD technicians in the production of drawings Ability to understand and apply design within the remit of individual projects. Willing, keen and able to develop expertise in this area Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with company and customer requirements and procedures Provide occasional support to other teams as appropriate (e.g. Roads) Planning and undertaking inspections and surveys following safe procedures Training less experienced technicians and graduates in the development of their draughting skills The Candidate will have: A confident and professional manner Ability to show initiative and examples of creativity A high expectation of performance for themselves and their team Ability to work collaboratively A proactive and integrated management style Excellent communicator A supportive and encouraging approach to mentoring less experienced members of the team Fawkes & Reece Limited is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy. | ||
