| An outstanding salary package is now on offer for both a Mechanical and Electrical Estimator to join the Kent office of a major M&E Contractor; Group turnover of work secured for the Kent office - 300 million. Our client is now recognised as the top M&E contractor in the Southeast and the future leader of building services in the UK. Over the last few years they have redefined the possibilities of M&E contracting nationally, securing the highest profile commercial and luxury residential jobs in central London and the Westend. They have an innovative management structure that is clearly different from the other majors. From dedicated career paths and fast-track promotion to something as basic as job titles, theirs is an emphasis on pacesetters and star-performers fast-tracked to take the most important roles. With a longstanding client base achieved through negotiated tendering, trust and collaboration they have secured work for the next 3 years valued at over 1 billion, offering long-term job security for their staff. Their project managers/engineers have an influential voice at all stages of design on major projects through their collaborative working style, often working side-by-side with the main contracting arm of their business on joint ventures. The role: Estimator reporting to the Director The preparation, submission and management of allocated tenders Key tasks: Accurately quantify materials, plant and labour requirements for allocated projects Ensure that for pre-designed projects, enquiries relative to the supply of materials, plant and labour are satisfactorily dealt with and that relevant information, contractual and trading particulars are distributed Attend and contribute at tender stage strategy/design innovation meetings Prepare estimates utilising computer-aided systems including input of data, ensuring that appraisal procedures are adhered to throughout Produce summary sheet and associated documentation and presentation of the package for tender adjudication to meet deadlines Prepare client documentation on completion of tender, including production of associate correspondence Prepare post-tender reports Prepare files to laid-down standards and undertake costing variations In relation to preparation of tenders, attend site surveys and liaise with other departments, suppliers and subcontractors to tender submission stage Negotiate lowest prices with suppliers and subcontractors Advise the Director of potential areas of savings and value engineering solutions When allocated the lead role, assume responsibility for co-ordination with other Estimators on tasks completed, within given timescales and checking their output for inclusion within the tender Experience: HNC/HND or other recognised qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Building Services or excellent craft experience Experience of a wide range of Mechanical or Electrical Building Services installations and systems in the UK A proven estimating track record The ability to read, interpret and understand specifications and drawings Experience of computerised estimating software The ability to supervise Estimators and assistants in a team to achieve tender return dates and take responsibility for that team The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines Product knowledge within the Mechanical or Electrical sector in the UK An outstanding opportunity: In the building services awards our client was recognised by the industry as the best Assured support in delivery of your project - our will have an influential voice at all stages of design on major projects working side-by-side with the main contractor Emphasis on rewarding and recognising talent immediately for achievement High profile Westend projects offering excellent and exciting working environments HumRes is a specialist recruitment consultancy with an extremely successful M&E building services division.
