Job Description:

Our clients provide a complete multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy service, with several offices located in all over Ireland. They provide expert engineering advice, design and project management services to both public and private sector clients for a broad range of engineering projects. Our client specialise in delivering clients aspirations through negotiation and relationship building with local and national authorities whilst maintaining independence and objectivity. They focus particularly on new developments and the management of existing businesses, industry and estates. They also provide support across the full range of environmental and social issues faced by business, industry and landowners, and their supply chains.
Our clients has a growing ecological department which supports the planning and implementation of both Public and Private Sector projects throughout Ireland. Their work includes Ecological Impact Assessments for a variety of habitats, preparation of site-specific management plans, habitat creation and management, advising clients on protected species issues and overseeing the implementation of mitigation measures. This particular vacancy is for a Senior Ecologist for their Belfast office. Joining this firm will ensure an exciting and rewarding career within a well established and growing company.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in developing their ecological business stream throughout Ireland based in their Belfast office.
  • Scoping and management of various assessments to relevant Directives and Standards.
  • Work as part of a team in dealing with both Public and Private sector clients on a variety of ecological and environmental projects.
  • Interfacing with NPWS and other Statutory Bodies in the delivery of projects to client requirements and appropriate financial return to the company.
  • Fieldwork, developing solutions, writing investigation reports, and project management.

 

Requirements:

  • Honors degree in Biological Sciences / Ecology or an equivalent qualification;
  • Enthusiastic person who has been working as an ecologist for at least five-years since graduation;
  • Demonstrable ecological field skills (especially in Phase 1 habitat survey);
  • An understanding of ecological principles within a Northern Ireland/Irish context;
  • Ideally two-years experience of managing ecology-projects;
  • Previous experience of consultancy and/or working with engineers would be advantageous;
  • Idealy excellent field and project management skills.
  • Experience in EcIA/ EIA and ecological mitigation projects.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. IEEM) is desirable;
  • Ability to work in teams or under own initiative
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Proven report-writing skills;
  • Full driving license.
