My client is a leading construction contractor covering the UK. Due to the award of Network Rail's £1 billion multi asset five year framework they have a requirement for an experienced Estimator to join their team in Swindon. Work includes civils, electrification, power signalling, telecommunications and trackThis role will form part of the central support team for the contract. Initially based on site at Swindon, there may be an need for the person to move as the contract grows. Summary Principally responsible for managing and preparing tenders from first principals and coordinating and challenging the input from the wider construction team including procurement, engineering and commercial, and supporting the bid management and quality submission requirements.Requirements"Understanding of the use of first principles estimating"Extensive experience and understanding of working in the rail environment "Highly motivated and driven to succeed"Leadership skills to influence attitude and ambition within the office"Strong communication skills (written and verbal) together with high level negotiation and analytical skills"Proven ability to work under pressure, together with the capacity to plan and prioritise workloads in order to meet deadlines"Effective time management with the ability to delegate "The ability to work without management direction, use initiative and possess a positive attitude towards teamwork"Ability to multi-task, have flexibility to switch between tenders, work to deadlines and delegate work activities"Computer literacy is essential, particularly with MS Word and Excel"Knowledge of estimating software systems Package of up to £55,000 - £60,000 + benefits is available depending on experience.
