Maintenance Manager Circa £40,000 per annum, plus company car or car allowance Permanent, full time Reporting to the Waterway Manager, this post will be responsible for the line management of Operations Supervisors, including Volunteer Managers, covering the canals and rivers in Worcestershire, South Wales and Gloucestershire (including Sharpness Port). You will also have responsibility for recruitment and selection, performance and development reviews, training and development planning, succession management, absence management, resolution of employment issues, expenses and overtime management, time sheets, leading team talks, ensuring effective communication of relevant business issues and undertaking disciplinary investigations and reporting as appropriate. You will assist the works planner and principal waterway engineer to prepare a General Works Plan as an integral part of the Business Plan. This includes ensuring compliance with mandatory directives and prioritised programmed works meeting the requirements on Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM). With Health & Safety as a key focus, you will ensure that all works are carried out within budget and to timescales. You will aspire to cover for, or succeed, the waterway manager, fostering positive relations with key members of the senior management family, including directors and trustees. The successful candidate will have experience of line managing a team, strong people management skills, be experienced in managing works and have a good knowledge of BW’s planning process. NEBOSH certificate would be an advantage but a strong level of practical Health & Safety knowledge within a construction industry is essential. You will also need a keen eye for innovation, an appetite for delivering change and a passion for productivity, efficiency and customer service. There will also be a requirement to participate in the local stand-by roster out of hours and at weekends. We offer a competitive salary and 5 weeks annual leave along with a range of other benefits.
