Managing Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager North London/Essex Salary£60,000 - £65,000 plus car/car allowance plus benefits 26 days annual leave plus public holidays Flexible annual leave scheme Defined contributions pension scheme Company car/car allowance Choice flexible benefits scheme Our client is a top five main contractor with proven and extensive civil engineering and project management skills working on projects from minor works through to major infrastructure projects. The London and South East region has a strong order book and recent tender success has created the need for a Commercial Manager to supplement an established commercial team, delivering a range of public and private sector schemes ranging from £1m to £20m in value, including major highway schemes under ECI and Design and Build contracts. Ideally you will be live in North London or Essex to be able to cover sites in the surrounding area. Responsibilities Capable of handling all the Commercial and Contractual aspects of a single contract (or group of contracts) up to a turnover of around £20m per annum. Can profitably run the commercial aspects of part of the regional business:- Manage all existing contract activities effectively, ensuring the swift and effective resolution of issues Lead negotiations with customers on commercial and contractual matters, achieving timely agreement in a non-adversarial manner Supervise the preparation of final accounts and lead negotiations on agreement Carry out commercial appraisals on tender opportunities and input to tender strategies Develop, maintain and manage relationships in assigned major existing customers to ensure the effective management of business agreements and contracts from the cradle to the grave Provide support to the negotiation and agreement of subcontract arrangements through to complex and strategic subcontract arrangements to minimise risk and maximise the advantage to the business Identify risks in relation to assigned major contracts/business arrangements Lead, develop and motivate commercial staff, ensuring they are fully aware of and capable of meeting their accountabilities Requirements Commercial experience on civil engineering projects with experience at a senior level Commercially astute with excellent negotiating skills Team player with good communication skills and an approachable yet assertive style Extensive knowledge of NEC and ICE forms of contract Minimum qualification HND/HNC, ideally Degree qualified with professional qualification (RICS/ICES) This is a fantastic opportunity to join a client who has a healthy order book on some significant civil engineering projects in the South.Please reply to this ad, or call Dan at Project Resource on 02078709333
