 The main purpose of the role is to provide commercial support for the enabling works necessary for mail centres and mail processing units around the UK. The role will require frequent travel through the UK with overnight stays. Technical Competencies:* Demonstrable experience in a Building Quantity Surveyors background in a contracting organisation up to £10 million in value.* Excellent IT skills - ability to prepare and maintain cost tracking spreadsheets* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* A Quantity Surveying qualification in construction.* Accreditation to the RICS is preferred but not essential.Personal Aptitudes:* Ability to work on own initiative * Decision making authority to support the goals, aims and values of the business area.* Influencing skills with key stakeholders* Ability to demonstrate savings and ensure efficiencies are tracked and monitored.Accountabilities:* Provide support for units around the UK relating to the installation of new automated sorting equipment, plus removal and disposal of existing apparatus associated with this equipment.* Support enabling works consisting of building, mechanical and electrical alterations and adaption.* Support and guide the generation of efficiencies through bulk procurement savings.* Ensure the optimisation across works delivery by engaging with delivery teams in the initial stages of the design and scoping process. * Track and substantiate efficiency savings through commercial functions.* Liaison with key internal customers including supply chain, subcontractors, project managers, and regional quantity surveyors.* Produce monthly reports to be used as key performance indicators.
