Our client is a specialist sub-contractor operating within the commercial new build and refurbishment sector, specialising within the installation of ducting. Due to sustained business growth a vacancy for a Contracts Manager has become available. Reporting into the Managing Director, you will have direct reports including Electricians and Installation Engineers and mates, and supported by various technical, commercial and administrative resources. MAIN DUTIES:* To create and maintain a deliverable installation schedule of planned jobs by understanding customer requirements and operational constraints. * To Manage communication to customers regarding the installation schedule including the progress on agreed snagging. * To visit sites before, during and after installation so as to ensure the efficiency and reliability of the installation and that all jobs are correctly signed off. * To manage the briefing of installers and electricians with regards to the planned jobs including the provision of all necessary paperwork. * To ensure that your direct reports are effectively recruited, trained and developed to the standard required to meet job purpose. * To manage the appointment, scheduling and payment of sub contractors. * To control installation costs by reviewing employee time sheets, terms and conditions and productivity as well as subcontractors, delivery and hire costs. * To work within the Health & Safety Policy and Arrangements at all times and specifically to carry out risk assessments and to prepare method statements for installation operations. * to ensure that installation teams have all the necessary equipment to carry out their work and that such equipment is maintained in a safe condition (includes tools, access equipment, work wear and vehicles)The successful candidate will have; * Excellent organisational and managerial skills, supported by demonstrable experience working for a sub contractor within the construction sector. * You will have managed a labour and skilled workforce on multiple installation contracts and have a commercial understanding. * You will have strong experience in measuring and surveying sites in order to quote / order materials and schedule/programme. * Excellent team working skills and communication both internally and externally outside the business. * CSCS / SMSTS certificates and a full UK driving license. * A strong commercial awareness including contractual relationships with supp pliers and clientsBased from the Bristol area, you will be travelling to sites to ensure projects are delivered to set targets. Sites will typically be within 100 miles of the Bristol region, but you will not be required to stay away.
